Overview

This Fuel Pricing Analyst position is responsible for analyzing fuel sales, margin, competitor behavior and industry information to maximize volume and profit by site. Each analyst has a specified region and is also expected to have an understanding of other regions within the Consignment and Retail markets. You will also be asked to assist with any initiatives assigned to the Fuel Pricing or Fuel Supply group and should be able to prepare reports accordingly. Fuel Pricing Analysts must work weekends on a rotating basis and may be required to travel to different markets as directed. This is a high visibility position with reporting due on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Price fuel daily for all company operated locations.
  • Price fuel based on analysis, strategy, competition, budget, and profitability.
  • Rotating on call for retail pricing decisions for evening and weekend competitor changes.
  • Calculate costs and maintain web portal for dealer locations.
  • Ensure all Wholesale fuel orders are properly recorded, quickly and accurately delivered to customers, and all issues resolved resulting from deliveries.
  • Research and pull fuel cost from website(s).
  • Key entry of fuel supply cost, retail of fuel and competition comparisons in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Provide chart and/or analytical analysis to senior management as required/requested.
  • Identify, track, and communicate to the field, all company operated stores successful completion of price changes and sales reporting.
  • Record and track all maintenance and environmental issues that would impact store volume.
  • Assist Petroleum Pricing Manager with gallon and margin annual budgeting process.
    Communicate with store locations, dealer locations, vendors, and suppliers in reference to pricing, inventory, and supply problems.
  • Notify Operations of market trends as needed.
  • Large percentage of time involves telephone interaction with store personnel, dealers, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Fuel pricing decisions using all available information (budget volume, budget margins, current market trend, etc.).
  • Resolving issues with Dealer gasoline orders and carriers.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in statistics, economics, related field, or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel including macros, charts, and graphs.
  • Ability to work weekends and on call as needed
  • Exceptional communication / customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all employee levels, including Executive Staff.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and ability to learn company systems and programs.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Able to troubleshoot and follow through on fuel problems.
  • Good organizational skills and practices.
  • Attention to detail- accuracy is necessary.
  • Strong verbal telephone skills. (30% time spent on phone).
  • Strong interpersonal skills when interacting with field personnel
